Guru Smt. Sanjeeta Mukherjee is the founder and artistic director of Sanchari school of dance.

Sanchari school of dance is an establishment where a professional training program based on the foundations of classical Bharatnatyam dance form and technique in kalakshetra style is given to the young dancers. The relationship between student and teacher in Indian dance is unique. Guru Sanjeeta was incredibly fortunate to be guided by her gurus, Sri Narasimhachari and Smt. Vasanthalakshmi. Sanjeeta is known for her abilities to skillfully combine tradition with innovation, classicism with creativity and thoroughness with flexibility. She is also known for the way she approaches students with a knowledge of the subtle and psychological framework of a child.


Sanjeeta has been learning bharatanatyam since the age of 4.  She began her education in the under the able guidance of her Gurus in Kolkata, India. Sanjeeta pursued dance even while earning a Masters degree in Economics from Ethiraj College, Chennai and topped 3rd in the whole of Chennai University.  And in spite of her deliverables as an economist,  Sanjeeta continued to master the complexities and intricacies of this art under the expert tutelage of her Gurus in Chennai. 


A performer at various ballets and competitions, Sanjeeta has to her credit, performances for ISKCON, Shri Krishna Gana Sabha, the Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, Vani Mahal in Chennai and many places and occasions in USA. Sanjeeta’s love for the dance form, metamorphosed her into a teacher.  She tutors students in Bhrathanatyam.


Sanjeeta feels that bharatanatyam is more than dance.  It has taught her to be a spiritually, balanced person.  “I do not jump into decisions nor do I get upset if things don’t go my way.  This balance of emotions in me is definitely thanks to my dance form – bharatanatyam!
