Why we want to give back to the Music Booster of New Providence

Throughout our nine years at New Providence, from Allen W. Roberts to NPMS to NPHS, we’ve always been positively influenced by the music department. It’s always a nurturing environment to be around and as we grew older and being in the music department became an option, the music hallway was our favorite place to be. Because the people who joined could appreciate music as much as we do, and it’s the friendliest, most encouraging environment from the teachers to our peers. Being in the music department feels as if we are part of a big family, whether it be the Musical, the chorus, to the band and orchestra and the marching band. And competition is bound to happen in such a talented department but it’s always friendly.

Our peers and we all get along well because the music department depends on working together, collaborating and forming lasting bonds with the people around you. It’s a judge free zone where students can express themselves and be supported by the teachers and other students around them. We feel a connection with all our teachers in the music department and we have a great deal of respect for all of them, even those who hadn't personally taught us. We could easily go to lessons and come after school to talk to our teachers about our day, our plans for the future and ask for advice. That type of student and teacher connection, we feel, can't be found anywhere else because the music teachers in in the New Providence music department are unique.

Due to our teachers their encouragements in all forms of music, we grew to have a passion in multiple forms of expression using music. Whether it be singing, to playing the violin to dancing, our music teachers all played a crucial role in embedding the appreciation and love for music in us. That is why we wish to give back in our own special way, using dance. We want to raise money and appreciation for the music department and all it does for the students in New Providence because without them and their influence in our life, we wouldn't be who we am today.
